A while back a few of us went to a South African Business Club evening in London, to listen to a talk by John Battersby (UK Manager for the IMC of South Africa) where he was introduced by Lord St John. Before his talk, John showed everyone a movie, which in years to come will be remembered as a pivotal point for us all. We literally had the hairs standing on the back of our necks, the emotion and patriotism was so palpable.

It turns out that this movie was something that people in South Africa may already know about because it had been on TV, but it wasn’t something we’d seen before. We asked John if we could get a copy, so he said he would send us a DVD. We then asked whether it was on the internet as a download, and John looked at us blankly not knowing what the answer was. Bless him!

A few of us showed our friends the DVD at home, and each and every person had the same reaction – the movie really and truly does evoke passion, patriotism and in some cases a sense of sadness for not being home.

So there’s this little thing called the interweb…. And being able to send a link to a friend to download is so much easier than sending them a DVD.

So here we are today. With this site we simply wanted to make available the movie, so that South Africans at home and all over the world could download, view and share it at their leisure.

After some discussion, we started asking why this movie evoked the emotion it did – why do people feel that way about South Africa? Why do the hairs on the back of their necks stand up? Why do people love South Africa so much? And so the site evolved into what you see now – you can download and share the movie, and we’d also really appreciate it if you’d tell us why you love South Africa too!

This site is for you and your friends – enjoy!
